WellSpring Oncology Cancer Center selects winner from National Lung Cancer Awareness Month Campaign

Pinellas Park, Fla. (December 9, 2009) – November’s National Lung Cancer Awareness Month spurred a campaign from local oncologists called, Bucks for Butts, where one “Grand Quitter Winner” would be selected from participants who relinquished their cigarettes in an effort to kick the habit. Christopher Smith was randomly selected as the Grand Quitter Winner – earning himself an even larger prize than the $5 Publix gift card given to him upon surrendering his box of smokes.

Eighteen years ago a program was put together by Dr. Michael Riley, a graduate from St. Petersburg Catholic High School, as a way to thank his alumni for his foundation. Today, the science wing program at St. Pete Catholic High puts together 160 presentations from physicians out of a 180 day school year. More
