BAY AREA (Bay News 9) — The U.S. Department of Health is proposing a major reduction in reimbursement for cancer treatments.
Recently the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced they’re planning on cutting reimbursement rates for radiation cancer treatment — in some cases by 44 percent.
“The radiation oncology community was shocked,” said Dr. Robert Miller with Wellspring Oncology Cancer Center. “At the time our cost have gone up higher and higher, they were going to cut the reimbursement by almost in half.” More

(HCMA) releases information on Swine Flu notifying the community of the first two laboratory-confirmed H1N1 (Swine) Flu-related deaths in the county. The Hillsborough County patients were adult males, 44 and 49 years old, who had underlying medical conditions that put them at greater risk of complications from flu. More

Firefighter reunited with doctor who saved his life
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Joel Lydecker has shaken many hands, but on Thursday Joel shared a handshake with the doctor who saved his life for the very first time.
You see, Joel doesn’t remember the first time he met Dr. David McKalip. It was in July, 2004 at Bayfront Medical Center. More
